When Andy Allen was one exam away from becoming a qualified electrician, he decided that it wasn’t what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. With the auditions for Network Ten’s MasterChef approaching he decided to leap in head first. He hoped that the journey he was about to embark on would inspire him and give him direction

Doing most of the cooking in his household, Andy taught himself to cook by watching various food channel shows. He always enjoyed fishing with his family which instilled a strong passion for all things seafood in his cooking repertoire.

Taking cooking more seriously in the past few years, Andy has greater respect for food and enjoys entertaining. Recently putting dinner parties on for his friends, he impressed even himself when he catered for a friend’s wedding for 90 guests.

Aside from cooking, he is passionate about all things sport and has even played basketball for Australia.

In 2012, Andy won the fourth season of MasterChef, etching his name into the ever-growing list of winners. Since his incredible win he has worked hard on opening his café ‘Three Blue Ducks’. He has also been working on becoming a published author, dabbled in personal catering and has travelled to some of the food meccas of the world.

An extremely humble and passionate chef, Andy Allen is ready to show audiences his incredible skills and determination.
