Vanessa Low is a German/Australian Paralympic athlete competing in Tack and field.

Growing up in a small community in Germany, Vanessa had a love for running, snowboarding and handball.

In 2006 Vanessa was on her way home when she was involved in an accident where she ended up on the train track as a train approached. Unable to get out of the way, the train hit and overrun Vanessa. She spent ten days in a coma and had both legs amputated.

The recovery was long, and doubts about her ability to walk again with the injuries were raised. However, resilience, persistence, patients and adaptability define Vanessa as she found a way to walk, run and long jump.

She reached the pinnacle of the sport, becoming a paralympic champion for her native Germany and again for her new home Australia.

Recently Vanessa became a mother and aims to return to the top of the sport in 2024 in Paris.

Vanessa advocates for rail and road safety, using her lived experience to promote positive change.

Vanessa’s mission is to use her experience to enhance the lives of as many people as possible worldwide.

Vanessa will leave you inspired while challenging the way you think to promote positive change in your life.
