Heading Outback:
A journey of self discovery, following passion and finding purpose.
Lauren and Justin defied convention, logic and societal expectations by embarking on a journey of 1800km on foot, unaccompanied and self supported through Australia’s Outback with their one year old daughter, Morgan. Over 102 days they walked from the heart of Australia to the coast battling extreme temperatures, suffering severe sleep deprivation (thank you teething!) and dehydration, dodged snakes and dingoes and created memories that will bond their family together forever. By embarking on an epic journey at the most unlikely of times, they reconnected as a family, uncovered what really is important and discovered that we are all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.

Corporate and Impact Strategist | Sustainability Advocate | Adventurer
Lauren Jones is a pioneer for settling down differently. After having a child with her partner and adventurer, Justin Jones, the family set out on an expedition to prove that adventure doesn’t have to stop where family begins. With their one-year-old daughter Morgan, Lauren and Justin covered 1800km on a self-supported expedition from the centre of Australia to the coast. Lauren is a spokesperson teaching others, and learning herself, how motherhood and family can not only co-exist, but thrive with adventure.
Lauren wasn’t always an adventurer…in fact before she’d met Justin she’d only been camping a handful and had spent more time climbing the corporate ladder than mountains around the world. For over 15 years she’s worked in big corporates globally using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
