Most people don’t realise that creativity and curiosity are addictive but Simon Banks does. They’re the gateway to shaking off autopilot, loosening up stale thinking and clearing the way for bold innovation.  He’s been hooked ever since he won a National Design a Stamp competition way back when and he’s been blending creative sparks with corporate smarts ever since.

Simon Banks is a creativity, innovation and design nerd-in-chief,  international keynote speaker, author of A Thousand Little Lightbulbs, and co-host of the hit podcast The Occupational Philosophers. (Top 10% globally!). He’s also a happily recovering professional artist.

With 1400+ events under his belt (and counting) across Europe, Asia, America and Australia, Simon has worked with world-leading organisations including Google, the Federal Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Laing O’Rourke, the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, Transport for NSW and Volkswagen to name a few.

His work is used to spark strategic conversations, enable leaders to lead with curiosity and challenge teams to reimagine how they think, collaborate and innovate. Why? Because tomorrow’s standout teams won’t win by working harder but by getting dangerously curious, a touch more daring and seizing new possibilities.

Whilst creativity and curiosity can’t predict the future, but they’re the powerful default setting that makes you ready for it.

With a razor sharp sense of humour, plenty of stories and an unapologetic nerd-in-chief passion for the content he delivers, Simon has a knack for making people think differently, feel inspired and most importantly, happy to get involved. He lives by the mantra that no one ever went to an event and said, “You know what? I wish I’d had a more boring time.”  People always ask where he gets his energy from. He’s not quite sure but he promises it’s legal.

Simon walks the creative talk..  He has exhibited his art professionally around the world, lectured at the National Gallery of England, and developed and delivered programs for iconic institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Vivid Sydney and the Sydney Fringe Festival.

He prefers a moped to a Harley Davidson, and surfing over a corporate commute.

And the question everyone always asks? Yes, all the drawings in his presentations are his own.
