Your leadership style should be determined by the readiness of the follower, not by you. Have you ever wondered how some of your leadership team just get it, and others don’t? Rather than blame the recipient, this technique is based around situational leadership and when to best apply a particular style. Directing, supporting, coaching and delegating broadly cover these styles and as a leader you should consider - am I communicating in a way that drives impact and influence within the team and business?
Culture is behaviour we expect from our team but also what we accept. Culture is a difficult component of your business to quantify, it’s not as simple as comparing bottom line year on year. How long are your employees employed with you for? What are their reasons for leaving? Why do new employees want to come work for you? What happens during the informal part of a new employees induction process? What behaviours are being challenged and being rewarded in your team? Do you accept mediocrity?
We will unpack the truth about us now and agree as a team to behaviours we want to stand for, that align to our values moving forward. We will implement a strategy with deadlines and a review to ensure this fits and is viable for your team to achieve in a timely manor.
What do you and your team define as high performing? What gets recognised as an outstanding contribution? Are our leaders role models of what we want to stand for as a business? In this, we will look at the mechanics of the business and the dynamics. We will unpack counter productive behaviours we may let slide under pressure and figure out a strategy to alleviate work frustrations and drive improvement.
Some teams can give feedback as a tick the box, need to get this done situation. We believe that investing in strong professional relationships builds trust and can minimise barriers to recipients giving and receiving feedback. Rather than direct or constructive conversations, we call them genuine conversations. They are delivered in the right time, in the right place to the right person. We will share some tools and techniques to drive a better outcome and actions to give and receive feedback from your peers.
We will investigate the impact of both values and behaviours in your business. What’s the difference? Does it matter if they improve or stay the same? Which ones are being lived day in day out by your team, and what might we need to review? If a team feel like they have contributed to having input into what the business stands for, they are much more likely to bring it to life and live it through their behaviours. Are the values on the wall? Or can they be seen and felt the minute you walk into your business? Let’s discuss and review.

Our experience “has been amazing, everyone involved has loved every minute of our program and it has helped our company grow through building a culture that represents the family values.” If we hadn’t engaged with Shelly “…we would have lost our staff that have made a significant impact to our business and hence our profitability would be on the decline. Furthermore the family could not enjoy the downtime away from the business.” The biggest improvements in our business have been “Trust, honesty and communication. We are working at a much faster pace and resolving issues quicker as we communicate more openly and effectively. The executive team are a lot happier. The owners of the business are now focusing on the business, not dealing with issues between employees.”
– Danielle Donaldson, CEO, RD Jones Group“In an industry where people really are a key differentiator and a source of competitive advantage, the Leading Teams program proved exceptionally valuable.”
– Mick Fuller Director of HR, Quiksilver“The culture at the Swans is one we are all proud of and one we have worked very hard to achieve…it would not have been achieved without Leading Teams’ direction and guidance.”
– Paul Roos - Former Coach, Sydney Swans Football ClubHi Shelly,
I wanted to thank you on behalf of the entire team for a truly amazing two days.
I took away things that I feel will help me so much in both my professional and importantly personal life going forward. For this, I’m so grateful to you.
I have had so much positive feedback from team members already.
Dev and I had our most honest conversation ever (after 8 years working together), sitting next to each other on the plane trip home. We are already becoming a higher-performing team.
Can’t wait for round two!!
Cheers,
