Lauren Burns made history at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, claiming Gold in taekwondo. At that time, she was one of just three Australian women to win an individual Olympic Gold Medal, alongside Cathy Freeman and Susie O’Neill.
Since the Olympics, Lauren has pursued a passion for health and nutrition. She is the author of Fighting Spirit as well as her self-published cookbook Food from a Loving Home.
Lauren Burns holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy), and while undertaking her PhD at RMIT University, has explored the link between lifestyle, mindset and elite performance. She has a particular interest in the importance of strong interpersonal relationships and their link to high performance. Lauren’s work was recently published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
An engaging keynote speaker, she draws on her personal experience and weaves the themes and impact of her work into her presentation to demonstrate how they apply to business and personal growth.
Lauren is well-known for her ability to activate participation, whether she’s working with as few as 10 people or as many as 10,000. During her more ‘active’ workshops she can have over 200 people use newly learnt taekwondo skills to break boards, all in the space of minutes!
